BIG FLATS — An 18-year-old Southport woman was airlifted to a Pennsylvania hospital Thursday morning after her car collided with a dump truck at the intersection of State Route 352 and South Corning Road.

Madilyn Kreisler was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on State Route 352 at 8:41 a.m. when she turned left onto South Corning Road in front of an eastbound 2017 Peterbilt dump truck, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

The dump truck, owned by Edger Enterprises Inc. and fully loaded with gravel and debris, struck the passenger side of Kreisler’s vehicle.

The impact pushed the Malibu approximately 100 yards east of the intersection and off the south shoulder of the roadway.

The Big Flats Fire Department and Erway Ambulance personnel removed Kreisler from her vehicle.

She was transported to Corning Guthrie Hospital and then airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The dump truck driver, Rusty Sherman, 56, of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, was not injured.

The New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit inspected the dump truck and found it in compliance through physical inspection and review of its GPS system.

Traffic tickets are pending completion of the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and Drone Unit, Big Flats Fire Department, New York State Department of Transportation and Erway Ambulance.
