DANVERS — Members of the Danvers Police Department, Danvers Fire Department, and Northeast Ambulance responded to Bay Drive on Thursday, Sept. 11, at approximately 2:44 p.m. following a report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to Beverly Hospital.
The individual was later transferred to a hospital in Boston for additional care.
Following an investigation, Juan Salas, age 23, of Boston, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery on a family/household member, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, two counts of improper storage of a firearm, and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Salas was arraigned Friday morning at Salem District Court and was ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The Danvers Police Department and Danvers Detectives were assisted in this investigation by the Peabody Police Department, Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and Ballistics Section.
