HOLDEN — The Town of Holden Police Department was made aware of a situation that unfolded via social media platforms on Wednesday evening.
It was reported that a staff member at Wachusett Regional High School made social media comments in the wake of the tragic assassination of political commentator Charlie Kirk.
These comments sparked heated debate, millions of views and brought into question the safety of school operations for both students and staff at the high school.
Holden police officers worked through the night in partnership with other agencies to ultimately determine that there were no credible threats of violence at the school.
With this information, the police officers assigned to the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift as well as day-shift officers were assigned to the school campus to ensure a safe and orderly drop off.
Police will continue to monitor the situation and will remain in contact with school administration to provide any public safety resources necessary.
The police department has no comment regarding the staff member’s status or the investigation by the high school.
