GATES — A 25-year-old Rochester man was arrested Monday on weapon and traffic charges after a Gates police officer stopped his vehicle for operating without license plates.

Jevante Wesley was pulled over at approximately 4:33 p.m. on Pixley Road, according to Gates Police Department.

The officer identified Wesley through a suspended New York State driver ID.

During the stop, the officer observed Wesley attempting to conceal a black fanny pack with his feet.

A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed it had no insurance, no inspection and the license plate had been surrendered to the DMV.

Wesley was removed from the vehicle due to his suspended license and the vehicle’s status.

The officer secured and searched the fanny pack, which contained a loaded 9mm Glock handgun.

Wesley was found to not have a pistol permit with New York State.

He was charged with multiple vehicle and traffic offenses, operating with a suspended license and criminal possession of a weapon.

Wesley was transported to Monroe County Jail for arraignment.
