New Lebanon woman charged with aggravated DWI with child passenger

NEW LEBANON — A 55-year-old Ballston Spa woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a 13-year-old child in her vehicle during a traffic stop Sept. 5.

A State Police trooper conducted the traffic stop on Bridy A. Lucas at approximately 9:46 p.m. on State Route 20 in New Lebanon for a vehicle and traffic law violation.

Lucas displayed signs of intoxication during the stop, according to police.

Officers discovered the child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Lucas was taken into custody and transported to State Police New Lebanon for processing.

She submitted to a chemical breath test that indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10%.

The child was safely released to a sober third party.

Lucas was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under Leandra’s Law, a Class E felony.

She was also charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and a vehicle and traffic law violation.

Lucas was issued appearance tickets returnable to New Lebanon Town Court on Sept. 25 at 4:00 p.m.
