LOWELL — The Lowell Fire Department responded to a camper fire at 30 Hazen Notch Rd on Sept. 8 at approximately 3:18 p.m.
Firefighters observed the camper trailer filled with smoke and conducted fire suppression efforts.
The camper was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.
Fire Chief Gerry Nick contacted the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit to assist in determining the origin and cause of the fire.
FEIU members responded to the scene and conducted an examination.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be the result of direct human involvement and the circumstances are considered suspicious.
The camper trailer sustained damage from fire, heat and smoke, though an accurate damage estimate is not available.
The camper belongs to Richard Winacht, 61, of Lowell.
