CAMPTON — A 75-year-old Campton man was arrested Sept. 8 after police say he locked himself in an unregistered vehicle and refused to cooperate with officers during a traffic stop.
Dennis Sweeney was stopped at 12:59 p.m. on U.S. Route 3 while driving a vehicle displaying unofficial registration plates, according to the Campton Police Department.
Police determined Sweeney did not possess a driver’s license and his driving privileges were suspended.
Sweeney was also wanted on multiple cash-bail warrants out of Plymouth Court, police said.
After being informed he was under arrest, Sweeney refused to exit the vehicle and locked himself inside, according to police.
Officers were forced to break a window to remove Sweeney and complete the arrest.
Sweeney was held on cash bail pending arraignment in Plymouth Court on charges of resisting arrest or detention, a class A misdemeanor; operating without a valid license – subsequent, a class B misdemeanor; driving after revocation, a violation; and unregistered vehicle, a violation.
New Hampshire State Police assisted at the scene.
