Wantagh postal worker arrested on mail theft charges

WANTAGH — A Levittown postal worker was arrested Thursday after police found stolen mail parcels in his vehicle at the Wantagh post office.

Daniel Schultz, 40, was taken into custody without incident at 2:27 p.m. at the United States Postal Office at 1250 Wantagh Avenue.

Seventh Precinct officers responded to the facility for a report of larceny involving an employee.

Police said they observed mail on the back seat of Schultz’s vehicle that did not belong to him.

During the investigation, officers also found Schultz in possession of a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Schultz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, three counts of petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and criminal tampering in the second degree.
