Gloucester police, fire respond to crash involving bicyclist

GLOUCESTER — Police Chief Edward Conley and Fire Chief Eric Smith report that the Gloucester Police and Fire Department responded to a crash involving a bicyclist Monday morning.

On Monday, Sept. 8, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Gloucester Police and Fire responded to 891 Washington St., for reports that a bicyclist had been struck by a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders observed the bicyclist, a 63-year-old female, suffering from serious injuries.

She was transported to an area hospital via medical helicopter for further treatment of her injuries.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Gloucester Police.
