Walton man charged with promoting prison contraband in Delhi

DELHI — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that an investigation into a report of “Promoting Prison Contraband” resulted in the arrest of a Walton man.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, Sheriff’s Deputies were notified by the Delaware County Corrections Division, of an incarcerated male, identified as 36-year-old Gerald V. Walke, who received a prohibited item during visitation.

Corrections Officers supervising the visit observed the transfer of the prohibited item and immediately intervened.

The contraband item was recovered from Walke, and the visitor was removed from the facility.

On Thursday, Sheriff’s Deputies subsequently arrested and charged Walke with one count of Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Walke was processed and issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date to answer the charge.
