HOLLIS — A 48-year-old Hollis man was arrested Thursday after library staff reported he was following juvenile females and performing a sex act on himself inside the Hollis Social Library.
Zachary Hayner was charged with gross lewdness in the presence of a child under 16, a class B felony, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the library at approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person.
Library staff told officers they observed an adult male who appeared to be following juvenile females around the interior of the library.
Staff reviewed security footage and observed the male following the females from aisle to aisle.
He eventually sat at a table, where he exposed his genitals and performed a sex act on himself, according to police.
The man left the library before this was discovered, but officers located him walking outside in the vicinity.
Hayner was taken into custody and transported to the Hollis Police Department for processing.
He was denied bail and transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections, where he will be held pending his arraignment Monday at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District.
Anyone who may have seen or encountered Hayner on Thursday is asked to contact Sergeant Derek Gyles at 603-465-7637.
