BOWDOINHAM — Three suspects, including two juveniles, were arrested Friday morning after a series of incidents involving burglary, theft and threats in the Post Road area.
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office received the first call at 7:14 a.m. reporting suspicious activity near 98 Post Road.
The caller reported three male teens walking north, dressed in dark clothing with at least one wearing a ski mask.
At 7:20 a.m., another caller reported a confrontation with the same three individuals in the same area.
According to the witness, one individual jumped in front of his vehicle, and when the witness stopped to confront them, one made threats to shoot him and made a motion like he was reaching for a weapon, though no weapon was observed.
Deputy Steve Thibeault spotted the three individuals near 234 Post Road at 7:29 a.m. and detained one suspect while the other two fled into the woods.
Around the same time, another caller reported mail strewn across the road near the original incident location.
K-9 units from the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and Brunswick Police Department arrived to conduct a search of the wooded area between Post Road and Ridge Road.
The Bowdoinham Community School was notified at 8:10 a.m. and went into lockdown as a precaution.
At 8:32 a.m., a deputy discovered a screen on the ground at 91 Post Road, which was vacant at the time.
Deputies and K-9 teams continued searching for two and a half hours.
At 11:19 a.m., witnesses reported seeing two male individuals running across a field adjacent to 91 Post Road toward Cemetery Road.
The two remaining suspects were located and apprehended on Vine Street at 11:39 a.m., several hundred feet from the cemetery and community school.
Neither suspect was armed.
Investigation revealed the two at-large suspects had returned to 91 Post Road, believing it to be vacant, and hid in the basement.
Darius Dunn, 19, of Winthrop, was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Dunn was transported to Two Bridges Regional in Wiscasset and is being held on $1,500 bail pending arraignment.
Two male juveniles were also charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
