MONTPELIER — Police have arrested a former executive director on felony embezzlement charges after a lengthy investigation into the misappropriation of company funds.
Darren McIntyre allegedly embezzled approximately $76,021.16 from the Vermont Council of Special Education Administration during his tenure as executive director from 2021 to 2023, according to the Montpelier Police Department.
The investigation began Oct. 24, 2024, when police received a report that McIntyre had used company funds for personal gain.
McIntyre has been cited to appear in Washington County Superior Court Criminal Division on Sept. 18 at 8:30 a.m. for arraignment.
