MERIDEN — Members of the Meriden Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit arrested a local man on six outstanding warrants after he fled during a surveillance operation on Aug. 27.
Police were conducting surveillance in the area of the Meriden Green in response to an increase in narcotic-related complaints.
Officers observed Michael Jorge and a female enter the rear of 59 East Main Street, which is posted with “No Trespassing” signs.
As officers approached, Jorge and the female were observed preparing to use narcotics.
Jorge was instructed to remain seated but fled on foot.
After a brief foot pursuit into the Meriden Green, Jorge was apprehended by officers.
Jorge, born Aug. 15, 1994, had six active warrants including three felony and three misdemeanor warrants.
The warrants included four charges of Failure to Appear, First Degree with bonds totaling $325,000 and two charges of Failure to Appear, Second Degree with bonds totaling $60,000.
Jorge was held in custody after failing to post bond.
