CORTLAND — A 35-year-old Cortland man has been arrested on felony charges related to the sexual abuse of a child that allegedly occurred in 2013.

Jamie L. Burleigh of Madison Street was arrested Thursday at 12:15 p.m. by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

He faces charges of sexual abuse in the first degree, criminal sexual act in the first degree and predatory sexual assault against a child, all felonies.

The sheriff’s office received a report in August of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred between September and October 2013 at an undisclosed location in the town of Cortlandville.

The investigation revealed that Burleigh had subjected one victim, who was known to him, to inappropriate sexual contact during that time period, according to authorities.

Burleigh was brought to the Public Safety Building for processing following his arrest.

He was arraigned Friday at 8:00 p.m. through the Centralized Arraignment Process and remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

Burleigh is scheduled for his next court appearance Sept. 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Cortlandville Town Court.
