Boston police arrest teen after gun recovered in Roxbury

BOSTON — Officers recovered a loaded firearm and arrested a 17-year-old male following a report of a person with a gun in Roxbury early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the Westminster Avenue area at approximately 2:20 a.m. Sept. 3 after receiving the report.

Upon arrival, an officer observed three individuals, one of whom matched the suspect description provided by Boston Police Operations.

The officer noticed the individual walking away with his right arm held tightly against his body.

During a pat frisk, the officer discovered a firearm concealed under the suspect’s right arm.

The suspect attempted to flee as the officer tried to secure the weapon, resulting in a brief struggle.

The firearm fell to the ground during the struggle.

Additional units assisted in taking the suspect into custody and safely recovering the weapon.

District detectives processed the firearm, identifying it as a Glock 22 loaded with one round in the chamber and 14 rounds in the magazine.

The juvenile will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and resisting arrest.
