MERRIMACK — A wrong way driver sideswiped a Londonderry police cruiser and fled the scene on Daniel Webster Highway on Aug. 31 at 6:58 a.m., according to the Merrimack Police Department.

A Londonderry police officer was driving north on Daniel Webster Highway near Reeds Ferry Lumber when he observed the vehicle ahead of him swerve left to avoid what appeared to be a wrong way driver traveling south in the northbound lane.

The officer attempted to pull to the right shoulder to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle.

The officer avoided a head-on crash, but the wrong way driver sideswiped the rear corner of the police cruiser, causing moderate damage.

The operator made no effort to stop and continued south in the northbound lane on a flat tire.

The officer followed the vehicle and stopped it on McGaw Bridge Road, where he waited for Merrimack police officers to arrive.

Merrimack police identified the driver through his Guatemala ID card as Robin Guicoy Armira, 22, of Passaic, New Jersey.

A records check showed Guicoy Armira does not hold and has never held a valid driver’s license in the United States or any other country.

Guicoy Armira was arrested and charged with conduct after an accident, operating without a valid driver’s license and criminal mischief.

No injuries were reported to the officer or his K-9 partner who was in the vehicle during the incident.

The Merrimack Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Officer Stephanie Greenslade at 603-424-3774.

Guicoy Armira was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in 9th Circuit Merrimack District Court on Sept. 30.
