Rhinebeck woman arrested on drug charges after traffic stop in LaGrange

LAGRANGE — Troopers assigned to State Police Poughkeepsie observed a vehicle traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law at approximately 3 a.m. Aug. 30.

Upon verifying the identity of the front seat passenger, Ila M. Janus, 29, of Rhinebeck, troopers discovered she was wanted on an active bench warrant.

Janus was taken into custody pursuant to the warrant.

A subsequent search resulted in the discovery of approximately 72.3 grams of fentanyl and 10.8 grams of heroin in her possession.

Janus was transported to State Police Poughkeepsie and charged with criminal possession controlled substance-3rd: narcotic drug intent to sell, a class B felony; criminal possession controlled substance/narcotic, a class B felony; and criminal possession narcotic drug-4th degree, a class C felony.

The driver of the vehicle was issued traffic tickets and released at the scene.

Janus was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court and released to probation supervision.

She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23 at 6 p.m.

Following arraignment, Janus was turned over to State Police Brewster in connection with an active bench warrant.
