NORWALK — A motor vehicle stop led to the arrest of a 51-year-old man on drug charges Sunday night.

At 9:15 p.m. Aug. 31, a Norwalk patrol officer conducting motor vehicle enforcement in the area of West Avenue observed Romell Fisher operating a motor vehicle.

The officer, who was familiar with Fisher from prior narcotics arrests, knew he did not possess a valid driver’s license and initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, Norwalk Police Service Dog Raza was deployed and indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle.

Officers conducted a search and found a clear zip lock bag containing marijuana, nine clear corner-tied baggies containing cocaine, and a small bag containing two ecstasy pills.

Officers also seized $166 in U.S. currency.

Fisher was taken into custody without incident.

Fisher, of 5 Price Ave., was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license, possession of a controlled substance — third and subsequent offense, and possession with intent to sell.

He was held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16.
