BOLTON — A 45-year-old Fairfax man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after striking a telephone pole and leaving the scene Monday afternoon.
Vermont State Police troopers from the Williston Barracks responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Duxbury Road near the intersection with Town Highway 12 at approximately 3:18 p.m.
Complainants reported that a vehicle had struck a telephone pole.
The operator had left the scene and was found by troopers walking on Duxbury Road approximately one mile from the crash site.
Following an investigation, troopers determined Nicholas A. Martin was driving on Duxbury Road when he struck the telephone pole and left the scene.
Martin’s 2022 GMC Sierra sustained front-end damage in the crash.
Road conditions were dry and weather was clear at the time of the incident.
Further investigation determined Martin had operated a motor vehicle while impaired.
Martin was arrested on suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was transported to the Williston Barracks for processing and released with a criminal citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court.
