Oriskany Falls man arrested on drug, weapon charges during traffic stop

ORISKANY FALLS — A patrol deputy assigned to the Waterville Field Office conducted a traffic stop involving a Chevrolet box truck on Cottage Street on Sunday at approximately 9:53 a.m., according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Vance Tallman of Augusta.

Tallman was found to be operating with suspended registration and a revoked driver’s license.

During the investigation, a large cane sword was located in Tallman’s possession as well as a quantity of crack cocaine.

Tallman was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and improper/dirty license plate.

The criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree charge is a felony.

Tallman was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was processed.

Tallman was then turned over to the Oneida County Jail, where he was held to await arraignment.

Road Patrol was assisted by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Clinton Collision Towing.
