Woman charged in Utica Walmart theft of over $1,000 in merchandise

UTICA — A Rome woman turned herself in to police Aug. 28 after being identified through surveillance footage in connection with a grand larceny at a North Utica Walmart.

Mindy Tennant, 35, was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police took the initial report July 29 regarding the theft at the Walmart location.

Loss prevention associates told officers a female had entered the store, filled a cart with more than $1,000 worth of merchandise and left without paying.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division based on the value of the stolen goods.

Police identified the suspect through surveillance footage with assistance from the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center and New York State Police.
