PUTNEY — A Connecticut man was arrested on multiple charges after crashing into a parked landscape trailer while allegedly under the influence Aug. 28.
Andrew W. Mongeon, 39, of Danielson, Connecticut, was traveling north on Gilman Street at a high rate of speed around 11:21 a.m. when he failed to negotiate the turn onto Ravine Street, according to Putnam Police Department.
Mongeon and his passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries and both declined transport to a hospital.
Police suspected Mongeon was under the influence of liquor or drugs at the time of the crash and found him in possession of crack cocaine.
Mongeon initially attempted to conceal his identity but was positively identified through investigative efforts, police said.
Upon learning his true identity, police discovered he had three outstanding arrest warrants for violation of probation.
Mongeon was charged with operating under the influence of liquor or drugs, possession of crack cocaine, interfering with an officer and three counts of violation of probation.
He was held on a combined court-set bond of $65,000 for arraignment Aug. 29 at Danielson Superior Court.
The 2011 Kia Rio was towed from the scene.
