Gloversville man arrested on burglary charges in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN — A 24-year-old Gloversville man was arrested Tuesday on charges connected to four burglaries in the town of Johnstown.

Zachariah S. Etherton of 345 N. Main St. was taken into custody at approximately 10:42 a.m. Aug. 26 following an investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

The burglaries occurred between May 29 and Aug. 22 at three separate businesses, with one business burglarized twice, according to Sheriff Richard C. Giardino.

Etherton allegedly caused damage to two of the businesses and stole property from all four locations during the incidents.

He faces four counts of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony; one count of criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony; one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; and four counts of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Etherton is currently incarcerated at the Fulton County Correctional Facility on an unrelated case.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Johnstown Court at a later date for arraignment on the burglary charges.

The Gloversville Police Department’s Road Patrol and Detective Division assisted in identifying Etherton as a suspect during an unrelated investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
