Elmira man arrested on burglary, grand larceny charges

ELMIRA — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 40-year-old William J. Champluvier of Elmira for burglary in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree, both Class D felonies.

On Aug. 7, members of the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol were dispatched to a residential burglary that had occurred on County Route 60 in the Town of Elmira.

The investigation was later turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Champluvier entered the garage of the victim and stole approximately $5,000 worth of property from the garage.

Champluvier was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree.

Champluvier was arraigned in the Town of Elmira Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail due to previous felony convictions.
