BOSTON — A 14-year-old male was arrested Thursday morning following an armed robbery in the South End, police said.
Officers assigned to District D-4 responded to 261 Dartmouth Street at about 3:32 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect brandished a firearm and pointed it at the victim.
The suspect demanded money from the cash register and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
A description of the suspect was broadcast and a picture was disseminated to responding units.
Officers observed an individual matching the description walking on St. James Avenue.
Officers followed the suspect and stopped him in the area of 205 Dartmouth Street.
The suspect was placed in handcuffs and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency was recovered from his bag.
A BB gun consistent with a Glock-style firearm was also recovered from the suspect’s backpack.
The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.
