Utica man charged with assault after crowbar attack

UTICA — A 47-year-old man was arrested Aug. 24 after allegedly striking a relative with a crowbar during a domestic dispute on Albany Street.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Albany Street regarding the incident.

The victim told officers that Julian Jordan engaged him in an argument and brandished a crowbar, threatening to hit him with it.

During the argument, Jordan swung the crowbar and struck the victim in the hand, causing swelling and pain, police said.

Jordan fled the scene after the assault.

Officers located Jordan a short distance away using a suspect description provided by the victim.

After a positive identification, Jordan was taken into custody and transported to the Utica Police Department.

Jordan was charged with attempted assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
