ALBANY — New York State Police Troop L arrested 24 individuals for driving under the influence from Aug. 22-24.

Many of those arrested were also speeding or unsafely changing lanes.

Troopers patrolling parkways and assigned to a fixed checkpoint stopped drivers who put others at risk.

Marge Lee, president of DEDICATEDD, an organization that works to educate the public and end drunk driving, shared her experience with troopers Saturday night prior to their nighttime enforcement.

Lee is a victim of a drunk driving accident that killed her son.

Police said responsible travel alternatives to driving under the influence include using rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft, having a designated driver, getting a ride from a sober third party or using public transportation.
