LOCKE — New York State Police at Auburn responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Pierce Road in the town of Locke, Cayuga County on Aug. 23.
Cayuga County 911 had received an open line call reporting threats involving a firearm and the possibility of the suspect setting fire to the residence.
Troopers arrived on scene and located Michael J. Yaw, age 62, of Locke, and the victim seated in front of the residence.
During the investigation, it was determined that Yaw had made repeated threats to kill the victim and others while in possession of a shotgun and other objects during the course of the incident.
When troopers attempted to place Yaw under arrest, he became combative and resisted, ignoring multiple lawful commands.
Yaw was eventually taken into custody.
Yaw was transported to SP Auburn for processing and lodged at the Cayuga County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Part proceedings.
Yaw is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 4th, two counts of menacing 2nd, one count of obstructing governmental administration 2nd, one count of resisting arrest and two counts of harassment 2nd.
