FORT KENT — The Fort Kent Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a group of individuals that allegedly discharged a firearm towards a home on Caribou Road.
The incident was reported to police on Aug. 25.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 24.
Through the initial stages of the investigation, witnesses reported a red Ford F-150 pickup with Maine veteran plates, with several occupants, leaving a party at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Caribou Road.
Once the pickup was on the roadway, a firearm was discharged from the vehicle.
Witnesses reported what appeared to be two firearms being fired by observing muzzle flashes from both sides of the vehicle.
A vehicle still in the driveway of the residence on Caribou Road was struck by one of the bullets.
Officers located approximately nine 9mm bullet casings on the roadway near the residence during their investigation.
Police Chief Michael DeLena said there is no danger to the public and the department believes this was an isolated incident.
There were no reports of gunfire reported to the Fort Kent Police Department during the date and time in question.
