BRIDGEPORT — A member of a violent street gang was sentenced Monday to 15 years in federal prison for his role in multiple crimes including carjackings, robberies and shootings.

Amire Newsome, 22, last residing in Stamford, received 180 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release from U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley.

Newsome was a member of Original North End, known as O.N.E., a gang based in the Trumbull Gardens area that committed acts of violence against rival gangs.

The gang robbed drug dealers and customers, sold narcotics and stole cars from inside and outside Connecticut, often using the vehicles to commit crimes.

Social media posts and text messages revealed that Newsome possessed firearms with extended magazines and sold drugs.

On March 25, 2020, Newsome and gang member Tyiese Warren stole a car from the Citgo 6M Service Station at 2000 Barnum Avenue in Stratford.

During the theft, they dragged the car’s driver several hundred yards as he tried to stop them.

The pair then carjacked a Toyota Corolla in Bridgeport at gunpoint and robbed the Citgo station in Stratford, taking cash and an employee’s cellphone.

They stole three other cars that same night.

On March 7, 2021, Newsome and fellow gang member Jahaz Langston shot and severely injured the mother of two rival gang members as she drove on I-95.

Newsome pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy on August 16, 2023.

Warren was sentenced to 40 years in prison on March 9, 2022, and Langston received 188 months on April 17.

Approximately 47 members and associates of multiple Bridgeport-based gangs have been convicted of federal offenses from this investigation, which solved eight murders and about 20 attempted murders.
