2 arrested in Southeast after traffic stop yields drugs, firearms

SOUTHEAST — A Be on the Lookout alert for a vehicle wanted in connection with a fraud investigation led to the arrest of two people on drug and weapons charges Aug. 22.

The Westchester Real Time Crime Center broadcasted the BOLO for a vehicle wanted in connection with a fraud investigation originating from Port Jervis Police Department.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed committing violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

A trooper assigned to the State Police Somers barracks initiated a traffic stop, assisted by members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast.

The driver was identified as Victoria L. Negron, 30, of the Bronx, and the front-seat passenger as Jonathan Ramirez, 42, of Reading, Pennsylvania.

A consent search of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in the discovery of approximately 21.4 grams of MDMA, 3.2 grams of cocaine, and three firearms.

Jonathan Ramirez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree: intent to sell, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree: hallucinogen, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree: cocaine, a class D felony.

Victoria L. Negron was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree: loaded firearm, a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, a class D felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; and vehicle and traffic law violations.

Both Ramirez and Negron were arraigned before the Town of Carmel Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail.
