Malta couple arrested on animal cruelty charges

MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Malta residents Thursday on animal cruelty charges after receiving a complaint about three dogs kept in unsafe conditions.

Tosha L. Jerome, 41, and Christopher E. Terry, 43, both of Malta, were each charged with three counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance, all class A misdemeanors.

The sheriff’s office received the animal complaint at 9 a.m. Thursday on Rockaway Street in Malta.

Jerome and Terry are accused of keeping three Cane Corso dogs in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

The animals were seized under a seizure order issued by Malta Town Court and are currently in the care of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.

Jerome and Terry were released on appearance tickets pending further proceedings in Malta Town Court.
