WEYMOUTH — The Weymouth Police Department on Saturday remembered Officer Michael P. Davey, who was killed while directing traffic at a utility work site 16 years ago.
Davey, a five-year veteran of the department, was struck by a vehicle on Aug. 24, 2009, while working at the site.
The driver of a pickup truck ran a stop sign, striking another vehicle before hitting the 34-year-old officer.
Davey suffered fatal injuries when he was pinned between the vehicle and a utility truck.
The driver was apprehended and charged in connection with the incident.
Davey was an Iraq War veteran who served with the United States National Guard.
He was survived by his wife and three children.
