MANCHESTER — Multiple residents have reported receiving scam calls from someone claiming to be a lieutenant with the Manchester Police Department, police said.
The caller uses a blocked number and tells residents they have “failed to appear” in court, according to police.
The scammer then attempts to collect personal information, including Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
The Manchester Police Department said it will never contact residents by phone to demand personal information.
Police advised residents who receive such calls to hang up immediately and not provide any personal information.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call can contact the Manchester Police Department directly at 603-668-8711 to verify any claims.
