NORWAY — Officers from the Norway Police Department, Maine State Police, Paris Police Department, Oxford Police Department and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to 14 Tucker Street on Aug. 22 for a barricaded subject.

Officers originally went to the residence to follow up on a suspicious incident complaint.

While conducting that investigation, Michael Greene of Bethel barricaded himself inside the apartment, causing a police standoff.

Greene was wanted on numerous warrants, including a weapons offense from New Hampshire.

With the assistance of a Maine State Police Crisis Negotiator, Greene was eventually taken into custody without incident.

Tucker Street was closed to traffic during the incident.

Greene was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital and then the Oxford County Jail, where he was booked on his warrants.

Additionally, Greene was booked on charges of Operating After Suspension, Fugitive from Justice, Violating Conditions of Release, Creating a Police Standoff, Obstructing Government Administration and Refusing to Submit to Arrest.
