Cornwall man charged with DUI in crash that injures 2

CORNWALL — Vermont State Police received a report of a two-car motor vehicle crash at Vermont Route 74 and Evergreen Drive on Aug. 22 at 6:01 p.m.

Troopers from the New Haven Barracks identified the operators as Thomas Frankovic, 51, of Cornwall, and Cindy Wright, 63, of Shoreham.

Investigation revealed Frankovic had operated his 1976 Chevrolet Corvette in a grossly negligent manner.

During the course of the investigation, troopers detected signs of impairment from Frankovic.

Frankovic was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and gross negligent operation.

He was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court-Criminal Division.

Both Frankovic and Wright sustained injuries and were transported to UVM Medical Center.

Frankovic’s vehicle was totaled and he sustained suspected severe injuries.

Wright’s 2005 Ford Mustang was also totaled and she sustained suspected serious bodily injury.

Weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

Troopers were assisted by Cornwall Fire Department and Middlebury Regional Medical Services.
