BRIDPORT — Two drivers sustained moderate injuries Saturday afternoon when one vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with another at the intersection of East Street and Market Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. under clear weather conditions on dry roads.

Sandy Mayo, 78, of Brandon, was driving a 2022 Subaru Forester east on Market Road when she failed to yield at the stop sign to a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport traveling south on East Street, according to Vermont State Police.

The Ford was driven by Cyndi Arnell, 61, of New Haven.

Mayo’s vehicle pulled out in front of Arnell’s vehicle, causing the collision.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash — the Subaru sustained damage to the driver’s side while the Ford’s front end was damaged.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were transported by ambulance to Porter Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Bridport Fire Department and Middlebury Regional EMS assisted at the scene.

Mayo was cited for violating Vermont’s stop or yield intersection law, which carries a $162 fine and two points.
