WEBSTER — Three Woonsocket residents were arrested following a multi-agency pursuit that ended in Webster on Aug. 1.
Pedro Santiago, 27, Yankuba Diop, 27, and Chayliana Carr, 25, were taken into custody after their vehicle crashed on Gore Road around 1:30 p.m.
The suspects had been pursued by police departments from Woonsocket and North Smithfield, Rhode Island, before entering Massachusetts where Douglas and Uxbridge police continued the chase.
Police said the occupants may have been involved in a shooting in Woonsocket a week prior and were known to carry firearms and distribute narcotics.
Webster police deployed stop-sticks on Gore Road, causing the vehicle to crash through a telephone pole after its tires had already been disabled by Douglas police.
The three suspects fled on foot into wooded areas, prompting a large-scale search involving multiple agencies, K-9 units, a police drone and Massachusetts State Police airwing.
At 2:58 p.m., dispatchers received a false 911 call from Carr claiming she had been kidnapped at gunpoint on Ronnie Drive in an attempt to divert officers from her location.
Carr was found hiding in a small cave and arrested after refusing commands and attempting to flee.
Diop was arrested around 3:45 p.m. after an off-duty Uxbridge officer spotted him entering a vehicle on Douglas Road.
Santiago evaded capture until Aug. 15, when he was arrested in Worcester following another pursuit by Woonsocket police and Massachusetts State Police.
Police recovered a total of 332 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine discarded during the incidents.
Carr faces seven charges including trafficking cocaine and resisting arrest.
Diop was charged with six offenses by Webster police and five additional charges by Uxbridge police.
Santiago faces nine charges from Webster police, multiple charges from Uxbridge police, and four charges from Massachusetts State Police related to the second pursuit.
