2 drivers unhurt in Newbury crash on US Route 5

NEWBURY — Two drivers escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when their vehicles collided on US Route 5 near Doe Hill Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:13 p.m. under clear skies and dry road conditions, according to Vermont State Police.

Sandra Knapp, 77, of Haverhill, N.H., was driving a 2008 Ford Focus north on US Route 5 when she attempted to turn onto Doe Hill Road.

Police said Knapp failed to yield to southbound traffic and was struck by a 2005 Ford Ranger driven by Randy Trombley, 68, of Topsham.

The Focus sustained damage to its passenger side, while the Ranger’s front passenger side was damaged.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither reported injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
