Texas driver cited in Westmoreland crash that injures 1

WESTMORELAND — A Dallas, Texas man was cited after failing to yield at a stop sign and causing a two-vehicle crash that injured a passenger Aug. 21.

Benjamin Fields, 41, was driving a black Ford F150 and failed to yield right of way at the stop sign on West Carter Road while attempting to turn left southbound onto State Route 233 around 3:35 p.m., according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

A gray Nissan Sentra driven by Matthew Mahoney, 32, of Clarks Mills was traveling northbound on Route 233 when it was struck by the Ford.

Laura Taylor, 26, also of Clarks Mills, was a passenger in Mahoney’s vehicle and suffered apparent minor injuries.

Taylor was transported by Central Oneida County Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for evaluation.

Fields was issued a universal traffic summons returnable to Westmoreland Town Court.
