CHARLTON — A motorcyclist died Tuesday evening after colliding with a minivan at the intersection of Worcester Road and H. Putnam Road Extension.
The Charlton Police Department received multiple calls reporting the crash shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 19.
Emergency personnel from the Charlton Police Department and Charlton Fire Department responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2022 Kia Carnival minivan was traveling westbound on Route 20 turning onto H. Putnam Road Extension when it collided with a 2025 Kawasaki ZR900 motorcycle traveling eastbound on Route 20.
The motorcycle operator suffered significant injuries and was transported to UMASS-Memorial University Campus by Charlton Fire Department Ambulance, where he later died.
The minivan operator was not injured and remained on scene to speak with police.
The crash remains under investigation by the Charlton Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
The scene was cleared at approximately 8:10 p.m.
