Big Flats man arrested after flashing weapon at other vehicle

BIG FLATS — Nicholas A. Galioto, 24, of Big Flats was arrested Aug. 15 for criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, menacing in 2nd degree, reckless endangerment in the 2nd degree and endangering the welfare of a child, all class A misdemeanors.

Police said Galioto flashed a weapon in a threatening manner to individuals in another vehicle in the town of Big Flats.

Galioto was arraigned by Big Flats Town Court and released.

Ivan D. Connel, 59, of Elmira was arrested Aug. 18 for two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Police said Connel had illegal firearms in his home in the town of Big Flats.

Connel was arraigned by Big Flats Town Court and released.

William H. Doane, 72, of Southport, was arrested Aug. 19 on a Superior Court warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony.

The warrant was issued by the Chemung County Court on Aug. 15, following an investigation of a disturbance on Cedar Street in the town of Southport on July 5.

Doane was remanded to the Chemung County Jail pending arraignment by the Chemung County Court.

Shavonda L. Mountain, 41, of Elmira was arrested Aug. 19 for burglary in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Police said Mountain stole from Walmart where she was previously prohibited for trespassing.

Mountain was arraigned by Horseheads Town Court and remanded to Chemung County Jail.
