Auburn woman charged with stabbing elderly family member

AUBURN — Auburn police arrested a woman early Tuesday morning after she allegedly stabbed an elderly family member during a domestic dispute on VanAnden Street.

Officers responded to the residence at approximately 1:48 a.m. Aug. 20 regarding a domestic incident involving a knife.

Police immediately located and detained Angelina Burgdoff without incident upon arrival.

During the investigation, police discovered that Burgdoff had physically assaulted an elderly family member with numerous items in the residence, including a cane and a knife.

Police allege that during the altercation, Burgdoff struck the victim numerous times with her hands and with a cane before retrieving a knife and stabbing the victim.

Burgdoff also damaged property belonging to the victim during the incident, according to police.

Burgdoff was charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony; second-degree menacing, a Class A misdemeanor; and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.

She was processed on the charges and transported to the Cayuga County Jail pending arraignment.
