South Windsor police arrest 5 in separate incidents

SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested five people in four separate incidents over the weekend involving forgery, larceny and illegal dumping.

Christopher J. Christie, 30, of Manchester, was arrested Friday at 3:25 p.m. on charges of forgery in the first degree.

Officers responded to Webster Bank at 1695 Ellington Road after receiving a report that a man was attempting to cash a fraudulent check for $400.

Christie was held on $150,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court this morning at 9 a.m.

Later Friday at 5:58 p.m., police arrested Tracey M. Biggs, 29, of Hamden, and Jammi A. Neely, 24, of New Haven, at Target on 125 Buckland Hills Drive.

Officers responded to reports of a larceny in progress and found two women who ran in different directions before being taken into custody.

Biggs’ shopping cart contained $1,147.54 worth of merchandise, while Neely’s cart had $896.77 worth of items.

A search of Neely revealed suspected crack cocaine.

Biggs faces charges of larceny in the fourth and fifth degrees, while Neely faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, larceny in the fourth and fifth degrees, and interfering with an officer.

Neely was released on $75,000 surety bond and Biggs on $25,000 surety bond.

Both are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.

On Saturday at 7:15 p.m., Robert M. Caron, 62, of East Hartford, was arrested on charges of littering on private property and criminal trespass in the second degree.

Police received a report that a man in a white cargo van was dumping tires on property behind the Plaza at Buckland Hills.

Surveillance cameras captured the van’s license plate, and Manchester police located Caron and the vehicle.

He was released on $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.

Bertha A. Pelkie, 47, of Rochester, New Hampshire, was arrested Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on an active warrant.

The charges stem from a July larceny at Lowe’s at 31 Buckland Hills Drive, where Pelkie and an unidentified man allegedly stole approximately $736 worth of merchandise.

Pelkie was arrested by Enfield police and turned over to South Windsor police custody.

She faces charges of larceny in the fifth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree.

Pelkie was held on $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court this morning at 9 a.m.
