ELMIRA — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 39-year-old woman on charges of promoting prison contraband in the first degree, a class D felony.
Kayla V. Seals was charged Sunday in connection with an incident that occurred Friday at 2:26 p.m. at the Chemung County Jail.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the jail for a report of contraband.
The Criminal Investigation Division assisted in the investigation.
During the booking process, Seals was found to be in possession of a glass smoking device, which is prohibited in the facility.
Seals is currently being held at the Chemung County Jail on an unrelated charge.
She will be arraigned in Elmira City Court at a later date.
