BOSTON — A 17-year-old male was arrested with a loaded firearm early Monday morning in Dorchester while police were responding to reports of an unruly crowd and fighting.
Officers assigned to District B-3 responded to an officer in trouble radio call around 1 a.m. in the area of Old Road and Ellington Street on Aug. 18.
Police were attempting to disperse a crowd that was fighting with reports of injuries when two individuals observed the unmarked cruiser and immediately changed their direction of travel, looking back at the officers’ location every few steps.
Officers exited their vehicle and stopped the two males.
As officers detained the individuals, a call was received for a person shot in the area of 20 Ellington Street.
Due to the heightened awareness, officers attempted to conduct a pat frisk of both males.
One of the males attempted to flee, and the handle of a firearm was seen protruding from his waistband.
The suspect was immediately handcuffed, and the firearm was determined to be a Taurus G2C with eleven rounds in the magazine.
The second individual was summonsed to court for possession of Class D drugs and person under 21 in possession of liquor.
The 17-year-old is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including delinquent to wit carry a firearm without a license, delinquent to wit carry a loaded firearm without a license, delinquent to wit possession of ammunition without an FID card, and delinquent to wit possession of a large capacity feeding device.
