Yonkers man arrested on felony drug charges after traffic stop

YONKERS — A Trooper assigned to SP Tarrytown arrested a Yonkers man on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 87 in the City of Yonkers on Thursday.

At approximately 10:32 p.m., the Trooper observed a 2023 Mercedes-Benz traveling northbound near exit 3 in violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator, identified as Danny A. Almanzar, age 27, of Yonkers, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

During the interview, the Trooper discovered a clear plastic bag containing approximately 43 grams of crack cocaine inside the vehicle’s center console.

Almanzar was taken into custody and transported to SP Tarrytown for processing.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (narcotic drug) – Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell) – Class B Felony.

Almanzar was arraigned in the City of Yonkers Court before the Honorable Verris B. Shako and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to reappear in Yonkers City Court on Sept. 4 at 9:30 a.m.
