WEBSTER — Webster Police Department officers used a drone to locate a wanted woman who fled into woods and onto a highway Wednesday evening.
Around 5:50 p.m. Aug. 13, Webster Police officers received information that Nikole King was walking on Thompson Road near UMASS Webster.
King was confirmed to have a warrant for failing to comply with terms of her release.
Officers initially checked the area but were unable to locate King as it was believed she fled the area on foot.
Approximately 45 minutes later, officers were dispatched to 244 Thompson Road for a report of a suspicious woman running up and down a business driveway before running into the woods.
Business staff members were concerned and afraid to leave.
A description provided to officers confirmed the woman was King.
While officers searched the area, a caller reported that a female matching King’s description jumped out of bushes into the roadway while exiting I-395 North at exit one.
Officer Donovan located King walking on Lake Parkway.
Upon seeing the police cruiser, King fled back into the woods.
Auburn Police K9 Officer Ljunggren and his K9 partner Biza responded to assist and began tracking into the woods.
Sergeant Larochelle responded and deployed the department drone.
While searching with the drone, Sergeant Larochelle saw King hiding in a bush in a yard on Cranberry Road.
King was located and placed under arrest.
Nikole King, 30, of Chase Ave., Webster, was arrested on a warrant from Dudley District Court for assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
She was also charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
