WALLKILL — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at State Police Middletown announced the arrest of Connor J. Derrick, age 20, of Archbald, Pennsylvania, stemming from a robbery in the town of Wallkill.
The investigation revealed that on Aug. 14 at approximately 6:16 a.m., Derrick entered the Sunoco Station located at 2 Ben Gilman Way in the town of Wallkill.
While inside the establishment, Derrick approached the clerk, brandished a firearm, and demanded the money from the register.
Derrick subsequently fled the establishment on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency.
A short time later, Derrick was located and apprehended by troopers outside of a 2006 GMC in the parking lot of 25 Crystal Run Crossing.
Derrick was also found to be in possession of an illegally possessed assault rifle within the vehicle.
Derrick was arrested for robbery in the first degree, a class B felony.
He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony.
Additional charges include criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Derrick was charged with menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Derrick was also charged as a fugitive from justice due to an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania.
Derrick was arraigned in the City of Middletown Court and remanded to Orange County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond.
He was remanded with no bail as a fugitive from justice.
Derrick is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Wallkill Court on Aug. 20.
The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Wallkill Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
